Jericoacoara is a beach of the coast of Ceara, in the north-east of Brazil. According to the American newspaper Washington Post, the beach of Jericoacoara is one of the ten most beautiful beaches on the planet.

Situated to 330 km from the capital Fortaleza, near of the state of Maranhao - in Gijoca (Jijoca) - Jericoacoara until 1985 was a simple village of fishermen, without electricity, roads, telephone or television, lost between immense whites dunes and completely isolated from the rest of the world, until the tourism discover the place and began to be visited.

Jericoacoara is located in an area of environmental preservation (National Park Jericoacoara) between mobile huge dunes, lakes of crystalline water, coconut trees, beautiful beaches, with a calm sea and ocean wave, where the contact of nature is intense, and the beauty landscapes impressive. The National Park has an area 6.850,00 (ha), and extends across the beach of Jericoacoara, including the municipalities of Cruz and Jijoca.

In the end of the afternoon, the tourists gather on the sunset dune, in order to assist at the end of another day. Jericoacoara is located in the extreme north of the coast of Ceara, and is one of the few places in Brazil where it is possible to admire the sun falls into the sea. Jericoacoara offers very relaxing, fun and eco-tourism, and is the ideal place for those trying to escape from daily stress. To arrive in Jeri, there are no access roads in the last 15 km (the construction of roads inside the APA and prohibited by law) and the only way to arrive in Jericoacoara is with one vehicle 4x4 or with a buggy, and this difficulties of access makes it even more charm to the beach, like also not having public lighting system, because the electricity grid and underground, and this makes the night of Jericoacoara a spectacle aside, had to the beauty of the night sky.
