Jericoacoara - General Info

Before arriving in Jericoacoara is good know some basic information on the beach. Jericoacoara is a simple fishing village, and don't have many services that are used in the biggest cities.

The beach of Jericoacoara has markets, bars, cafes, restaurants, cybercafes, little shops, laundry, rent of horses, among others. In Jeri there are no banks and loan offices, and traveler's checks are not accepted. Keep in mind it's time to plan your trip.

The local voltage is 220V.

The international dialing code +55 - 88 and number. Many inns and hotels in Jericoacoara provides a telephone service. A little more pricey then the calling card.

INTERNET

There are many Cybercafes in Jericoacoara (average price R$ 6 an hour), and you can connect your computer in almost all Hotels and Inns, using wireless connection. Informed of this before you make your hotel reservation.

HEALT

It is not necessary to have any vaccinations, but remeber that on the beach of Jericoacoara there is NOT hospital, so it is important to remember to bring some basic medicines (antibiotic). The nearest clinic is located in Jijoca but offers very limited services. The close hospital is in Sobral, which is 3 hours by car.

CLIMATE

The climate is really good. The temperature in Jericoacoara beach is constantly stable, rarely under 25C (77F) or over 35C (95). The rain season is between February and May, and the sun shines all over the year. July to November the wind is strong in favor to pratice Windsurfing (mostly in Jeri) and Kitesurfing. (The Kite SPOT is in Prea beach situated just 12 km from the main village of Jericoacoara).

MONEY

Currency is the Real R$. We advise you to change money in Fortaleza airpot, because there are no banks or cash points at Jericoacoara.

TRANSFER

The distance from the airport of Fortaleza (Pinto Martins) to Jericoacoara beach is approximately 4 hours by car.

DOCUMENTS

It is possible to stay in Brazil up to 6 month as a tourist.

IMPORTANT: on the beach of Jericoacoara there are no banks. In almost all Restaurants of Jericoacoara, Visa and Mastercard credit cards are accepted.
